When you think about Sundays in the fall, you think of sitting on the couch watching the National Football League while eating whatever you want. But there’s now an industry that has taken up as much fan time as watching a game on TV,and it lasts all week. That industry is Fantasy Football.
Fantasy Football is a game where you and a group of people can come together and compete against each other using your favorite players in the NFL. Before the season starts there is a highly anticipated draft.
Some students at Boonville High School took the draft process to the next level, as they dressed up casually for the draft night. Senior Isaiah Lampton said, ”Having an in person draft, made it easier to really converse over the best available players in the draft”.
There are so many down to science things when it comes to making the best fantasy team. In Fantasy you Get a quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, one flex option, a team’s defense, and a kicker to complete a full team. The players that are more than likely going to get you the most points are the Quarterbacks, Running Backs and Wide Receivers. These players get you more points because they are the ones scoring the touchdowns and the ones that are assisting the touchdown. The top fantasy prospect for this season was running back Johnathon Taylor who had a breakout second season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. Taylor was taken first in the my leagues draft by Senior Isaiah Lampton.
Fantasy can get really intense. Sometimes you need a couple extra points from a player, but that player got hurt or isn’t in the game when you need them to be. Anything can happen in Fantasy, you could have all the best players and they could all have a bad week and lose your weekly matchup. That is why it is called Fantasy Football, because it is so unpredictable. You might have to take big risks if you want to win your league. Sometimes a player that you pick up out of free agency can be the winning ticket.
It is safe to say that Fantasy Football makes a sport that we all love much more fun. Who wouldn’t want to make up an embarrassing punishment to the person that gets last place in your league?
