The BHS football “C” team’s season has come to an end with a record of 3-1-1. The team consisted of mainly freshmen and a few sophomores that were eligible to play. The Pioneers were led by frosh quarterback Grant Davis under center. Over the course of the season Davis contributed six touchdowns in the air and two touchdowns with his feet.

Regarding the game, Davis said, “I would say that I performed pretty well, but it could’ve gone a lot better by beating Gibson Southern.”

Freshman running back Logan Fodge led the team’s rushing attack. Fodge put up over 7 rushing touchdowns, and definitely played a large part in the team’s success. “Pretty good”, said Fodge. “I loved our winning season, my teammates, and the friendships I built.” After going down with an ankle injury mid-season, Fodge was definitely relieved he could return to the gridiron for the final game of the season. “It hurt that I had lost my spot when I injured my ankle, but overcoming that and earning my spot back definitely made for a positive ending.”

With big wins over Heritage Hills and Evansville Central, the team can certainly be satisfied with their hard work this season. One loss to a pretty decent Gibson Southern team and a 36-36 tie at Southridge is something to be proud about as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Pioneers were anchored down by sophomore Linebacker, Tanner Garrett.

“He’s a headhunter,” says Sophomore and fellow teammate Brooks Aigner. Garrett makes his reads precisely and can constantly be seen making plays on the defensive side.

Another key defensive player, Freshman Cornerback Jordan Paul is ecstatic with how his freshman season has gone. “Pretty good“, says Paul. “It’s definitely been a great year.. I feel like I did pretty alright, besides our last game.”  He and eight other freshmen were called up to finish the season with the JV/Varsity group.
