Taylor Swift Teases New Album: Midnights

World renowned pop artist Taylor Swift is set to release her tenth album on October 21st. She announced the album titled Midnights in a recent Video Music Award acceptance speech. It comes as no shock to those who are familiar with Taylor’s work that this album has come with a slew of what Swift refers to as “Easter Eggs.”

The hints leading up to the release of the Midnights album have cleverly been released sporadically at 12:00 AM on random nights. These have included limited edition vinyls, merch, and most recently a game show called “Midnights Mayhem With Me.” In these small segments, Taylor spins a lottery wheel all numbered one through thirteen and announces the song name of the corresponding track. In one segment, Taylor held her red phone upside down when saying the track name which led many to believe that Ariana Grande would be featuring on the song. It sounds far fetched, until you realize it isn’t. Grande’s album cover for Sweetener is upside down, and the phone chord creates a figure that looks suspiciously similar to Ariana’s signature high ponytail.

Upon her announcement Taylor said that the Midnights album tells the story of 13 sleepless nights. Fans, more popularly referred to as “swifties,” were surprised that she chose to release an original album instead of rerecording one of her earlier ones. Taylor’s last original was her very well-received album titled evermore. Needless to say, the bar for Midnights is set pretty high for this Pop Star Phenomenon.

Some aren’t sure what characteristics this next album will showcase. Will it exhibit the gut wrenching breakup lyrics like that of Debut and Red? Will Taylor choose to tell stories through her lyrics like those in her albums folklore and evermore? Or will Swift refer to her mainstream pop era of 1989 and Lover?

Many questions will go unanswered until the release of Swift’s album. We can be almost certain that this album will not be a flop. Having stayed relevant for nearly two decades, we know that Taylor will create yet another historic album and one that her fans will surely love.
