TOP FIVE: Ranking the Top Five Star Wars Movies

MAY 4th, 2023 – STAR WARS DAY

Star Wars is loved by almost everyone and is a staple as one of the most phenomenal movie series of all time. They have made many toys for Star Wars. As well as many TV series to go along with them,  but the main way Star Wars got big is because of the movies; there are currently 13 movies in the Star Wars franchise, and the only way to settle which one is the best is by arranging them into my top 5 greatest Star Wars movies.

n 5th place is Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Return of the Jedi is a good movie and does well of ending off the first three movies. It is great showing that Luke has changed throughout the movies and ending him off more wise than he was when he first started. Then showing Darth Vader defying the orders of the emperor and “killing him” to show that he is the chosen one and doing all this to save his son.

Next is Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The Force Awakens is also very good, and starts the third saga of the franchise off well, but gets totally killed by the next two films. It is good because it shows the bonds that are created between people such as Poe, Finn, and Rey. Then the shocking moment where Han Solo, one of the most loved characters is killed by his own son but till this day.

Number 3 is Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. A New Hope is great as a good, complete story. there isn’t a cliffhanger or anything. Then the process that Luke takes to become a Jedi and watching his master die right in front of him. But now since the Disney+ series Kenobi there is now a plot hole between Obi Wan and Darth Vader by Vader saying “When I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master”. Now in Kenobi, Obi Wan and Vader fight but it was supposed to be the last fight between them in episode III.

At number 2 is Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The Empire Strikes Back is placed first on most people’s list. I love it, and it has the biggest reveal in history, it is such a huge reveal because in episode IV we are told that Vader killed Luke’s father but instead he is his father. But I think the one I have in first place fights make it slightly better.

Finally, in first place is Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Revenge of the Sith is simply amazing. The opening scene is great with Anakin and Obi Wan transitioning into the battlefield and the first lightsaber fight you witness Palpatine already start is coercion on Anakin by telling him to kill Count Doku, even though it is not the Jedi way. Then Anakin slowly approaches the darkside to try and save the love of his life Padma. Then the final fight was absolutely beautiful with all the emotion between Obi Wan and Anakin, with Anakin wanting to sever the relationship between him and Obi Wan, then Obi Wan “doing what he must” to stop him.

That is my top 5 Star Wars movies of all time. It may be controversial but they are all good movies and correlate well with each other in the series (besides 8, 9). May the Force be with you all.
